Director Role Trend for Korean Actors (Jaejoong, Ji Sung, Lee Dong Wook, Park Yoon Jae)

What’s the similarity between the lead actors for recent popular drama series? Besides been tall, young, good looking, and has fair skin, sturdy chest and other features that attract female audience, they also have the similar role in the drama – acting as company directory.

The role of young and good looking company director has been the trend in Korean drama in recent TV series. In fact, Park Yoon Jae in Indomitable Daughter In Law, Lee Dong Wook in Scent of a Woman, and Ji Sung and Kim Jae Joong in Protect the Boss, who are known as drama’s F4 due to their high popularity, have acted as director in their roles in the dramas. The role of director seems to replace the role of manager which successfully captured the female viewers’ heart in the past.

Park Yoon Jae

Park Yung Jae acts as Moon Shin Woo in “Indomitable Daughter In Law” (불굴의 며느리), which has the role as perfectionist director of Queens Group. The character has a fine and considerate personality, and Park Yoon Jae has always appears in the drama with a slim traditional clean cut suit with a shirt underneath and a tie, with handkerchief poking out of the suit pocket from time to time accentuates luxury of his style.

Lee Dong Wook

In “Scent of a Woman” drama, Lee Dong Wook plays the character of Kang Ji Wook, the director of the travel company Line Tour. Although the character has a cold side to his personality, but he is affectionate and romantic in front of the woman he loves. Lee Dong Wook often appears with cotton pant and knit top or plaid shirt in the drama, giving a more classic and dandy look. He also likes to show off those sexy collar bones by wearing V-neck knit or t-shirt.

Ji Sung

Ji Sung acts as the director of DN Group Business Strategy Team 1, Cha Ji Hun, with an innocent but silly and goofy personality that often gets him into trouble. Ji Sung’s character in Protect the Boss is unique in the sense that it portrays a different image of a typical director. Ji Sung usually wears a t-shirt under his suit blazer, with a backpack at the back to mix and match his style, which gives a free and casual look.

Kim Jae Joong

Kim Jae Joong plays character of Cha Moo Woo, director of DN Group Business Strategy Team 2 who is manly and passionate, and also the rival of Ji Sung in Protect the Boss. As cold as his character, his image shows a more restrained and stoic look. His staple is also the suit look, wearing various black and gray suit. Although the cloth is mostly of simple achromatic-color scheme, his signature button loosened collar shirt underneath gives him a sexy and sick look.
